Our Vision

Warriors First is a faith-based tax-exempt, 501(c)3 non-profit organization that was created in 2014 to address the perennial needs of our military veterans, wounded warriors, and their families. Even veterans who have served in World War II came home with both visible and invisible wounds that we now have come to call Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). These inner wounds, often called “soul injuries,” continue to plague our heroes in all kinds of ways, affecting their marriages, their family life, their work, and even their bodily health. Rates of alcohol and drug abuse are terribly high, while 22 veterans a day are committing suicide.

Warriors First is designed to fulfill a “call to arms” for our veterans, wounded warriors, and their families in the creation of a camping and retreat center within the 200-acre Saulisberry Park campground and quarry located just outside the city limits of Kenton, Ohio. It will be called “Camp Jacob Parrott,” in honor of Mr. Parrott who was a Civil War veteran from Kenton and recipient of the first Congressional Medal of Honor.
